Guidelines for Writing Competition Spring 2009

Eligibility for membership to the Syracuse Science and Technology Law Reporter:
Top 15% of 1L class
Additional membership based on appellate brief or memorial, letter of intent and Form and Accuracy (“F&A”) assignment
o Participation in the Writing Competition is highly recommended for all those interested in joining the   journal, as class rank will not be solidified by the due date of application

Appellate Brief Submission

Please follow these guidelines EXACTLY:
• Due Date: April 20th [Day after LCR brief submission] by 5:00 pm
Where: SSTLR Office, Suite 402D, 4th Floor MacNaughton Hall
Place in a large unmarked manila envelope:

o 5 copies of your appellate brief [unaltered from submission to Professor] with your SU ID number on every page of each brief [as a header in the center in 16pt font]
o 3 copies of your letter of intent with your SU ID number at the top
Your letter should reflect why you want to be a part of the Reporter, and what aspects of you background you feel will be of importance to the Reporter.
o 3 copies of your resume with your SU ID number at the top
o NO other identifying marks should appear on your appellate brief, letter of intent or resume

Failure to comply will result in automatic disqualification!
Submit in a separate envelope with your SU ID number written on the front, a note card containing the following information:
o Full Name
o SU ID Number
o Summer Address
o School Address
o Phone Numbers [where you can be located this summer]
o Email [that you will be regularly checking this summer]

Form & Accuracy Assignment
• We will distribute the assignment upon submission of appellate brief on April 20th
Due: April 24th by 5:00 pm to the SSTLR Office
